My mom—yes, she’s a winner. She’s resolute, she’s creative, she gives more to her kids than anyone I know… so I’m overjoyed by the fact that she was Deerfield Farmhouse’s Grand Prize winner of this gorgeous folk art doll named Ladye Christiana Campbell, created by incredibly talented dollmaker Christine Crocker.

Notice the banner in her hand. It says “Gladys Battson” in a gorgeous hand-lettered script. Christine’s daughter is Katie Etsvold, whose Sparrows Cottage features folk art, paper craft, quotes, a newsletter reminiscent of The Pickwick Papers from Little Women. It’s women like this that inspire me even more to get busy with my art. Look for an upcoming post featuring dolls made by my own mother. Amazing!
