The page will turn.
This chapter, end.
But don’t take with it the good times,
Or the young ones.
Keep histories worth hearing
And touchable, soft skin
On children of mine.

I want to pick and choose
Which parts to use
In the sequel.
None of the
Slouching stories,
The can’t-make-it-happen-fast-enough
Tales of Tuna Helper
Or four dollars of gas.
Keep the looks of joy,
Even sadness, on sweet cheeks
Because those cheeks are
Always lovely.
And craft lines like that
Over and over
And over.

Make words bounce with
The alliteration of answers,
Dollar signs,
And wisdom.
The plot will rise to a
Point worth reading.

But now, at times stuck
In the drudge of this chapter,
The endless narration of
Repetitive themes,
When the lacing of lightness
Does not always show,
Don’t let go.

It’s a story to finish
And not put down yet.
